A diesel engine power unit refers to a "ship power unit" that uses a diesel engine as the main engine. Direct heating is adopted to make diesel burn in the cylinder to generate heat energy, and the heat energy is converted into mechanical energy by using gas as the medium. The motion mode of diesel engines is mostly reciprocating. It is a type of thermal engine with relatively high thermal efficiency, and it features rapid start-up, safety and reliability, small unit weight size, and a wide power range. Marine diesel engines can be classified into four-stroke and two-stroke engines based on the number of strokes they complete in one working cycle. According to the inflation method, it can be divided into pressurized type and non-pressurized type. According to the structural arrangement, it can be divided into crosshead type and straight cylinder type. According to the arrangement of the cylinders, it can be divided into single-row type and multi-row type. According to the rotational speed or the average speed of the piston, they can be classified into high-speed machines, medium-speed machines and low-speed machines.
