Marine diesel engine component L16/24 thrust head 

Thrust Head: A component used for installing the mirror plate and transferring the axial force from the main shaft to the mirror plate of the thrust bearing. The thrust head of a high-speed hydroelectric generator or power motor is integrally cast with the mirror plate, which is called "thrust head-mirror plate", or it is cast together with the thrust head and the main shaft. 

Thrust Disk: A circular disc that transmits the axial thrust of the rotor to the thrust bearing. Thrust pads are installed on both sides of the thrust disk. There is a wedge-shaped oil film between the thrust pad and the thrust disk to maintain lubrication and prevent wear of the pads. 

For single-cylinder units, the thrust disk is installed on the high-pressure side of the turbine rotor, usually inside the front box. This arrangement is made because when the unit is starting up, the rotor of the turbine is required to generate axial displacement towards the generator. However, for large units (such as intermediate reheating units), the thrust disk is not placed in the front box but in the crankcase. This is because when the intermediate reheating unit is starting up, the turbine rotor generates axial displacement towards the turbine head rather than the generator. 

Thrust Bearing: A type of thrust bearing that can freely and flexibly swing on the fixed support structure, forming a dynamic pressure oil film lubrication and bearing system with the mirror plate. It consists of a fan-shaped component composed of the friction surface layer and the bearing body.
