What is the difference between the main engine and the auxiliary engine of marine diesel engine accessories?

The auxiliary engine for power generation should be called the power generation prime mover. Generally driven by diesel engines, there are other power equipment. The main engine is the main propulsion power unit on the ship, which is to provide the forward energy of the ship, and the auxiliary engine refers to other mechanical equipment on the ship except the main engine. The generator set is called a pay machine on board, and it should also be counted as an auxiliary machine.

Diesel engines of the same type can be used as the main engine with propellers on different ships, and can also be used as auxiliary engines with generator sets. The main difference between them is the governor, the limit governor is generally used on the host to prevent speeding. Of course, there are also full-scale governors.

The fixed speed governor is used on the auxiliary machine, because the speed of the generator must be constant, and the speed fluctuation is too large, and the output voltage and frequency will fluctuate, especially the frequency.
