L28/32 diesel engine parts describes the working conditions of the cylinder head structure

1. Cylinder head working conditions and requirements

The cylinder head is subjected to the mechanical load caused by the air force and the fastening of the cylinder head bolts, as well as the high thermal load due to contact with high temperature gas. In order to ensure a good seal of the cylinder, the cylinder head can neither be damaged nor deformed. Therefore, the cylinder head should have sufficient strength and stiffness. In order to make the temperature distribution of the cylinder head as uniform as possible and avoid hot cracks between the inlet and exhaust valve seats, the cylinder head should be well cooled.

2. Cylinder cover material

The cylinder head is generally cast by superior gray cast iron or alloy cast iron, and the gasoline engine for cars mostly uses aluminum alloy cylinder heads.

3. Cylinder head construction

The cylinder head is a box-shaped part with complex structure. It is processed with inlet and exhaust valve seat holes, valve guide holes, spark plug mounting holes (gasoline engines) or injector mounting holes (diesel engines). A water jacket, an inlet and exhaust passage and a combustion chamber or part of a combustion chamber are also cast in the cylinder head. If the camshaft is mounted on the cylinder head, the cylinder head is also machined with a CAM bearing hole or a CAM bearing seat and its lubricating oil passage.
