What is the difference between a marine diesel engine and a vehicle diesel engine?


1. The way of spraying is different.


Marine diesel engines (except for direct injection engines) mix diesel and fuel into the cylinder. The output torque of the marine diesel engine will be larger than that of the vehicle diesel engine. High torque does not affect the speed of the car, but it will affect the car's instantaneous acceleration and load capacity.


The diesel engine for vehicles directly injects diesel into a cylinder that is already filled with compressed air.


2. Different ignition methods.


The marine diesel engine is ignited by compression self-ignition, and the fuel is ignited by the heat generated by the compression of the air in the cylinder, that is, the air compression raises the temperature, and the diesel burns when the temperature of the compressed air is higher than the ignition point of the diesel.


The diesel engine for vehicles requires a spark plug to ignite the mixed gas.


3. The compression ratio is different.


The compression of the marine diesel engine is larger than that of the diesel engine for the vehicle. Therefore, its expansion ratio and thermal efficiency are relatively high, and the fuel consumption is lower than that of the vehicle diesel engine.
